The Chimney Clinic is home of all chimney inspection and cleaning concerns, along with all chimney repairs and chimney relining.
Video inspections of the chimney system (or as we like to call the "Chimney-Oscopys" ) have been used since the 80's. The system uses a closed circuit camera and television system to capture a video feed of the interior of the chimney structure. The flue can sometimes be hard to inspect in some circumstances. So a video camera can be sent up the interior of the system for a better view.
The video inspection system is used on every inspection we perform. It is necessary in order to see all horizontal joints in the flue liners. This is the only way to surely tell if a system is safe or not. We document these findings so they can be viewed by the homeowner, insurance company or even a realtor or fire marshal.
We also use drone video inspections to reach the high parts of chimneys that are typically out fo reach due to steep access or difficult roof pitches. A drone with a high resolution camera is flown to the chimney top where it gives a clear view to the technicians on the ground.
