​ ​ The Chimney Clinic is home of all chimney inspection and cleaning concerns, along with all chimney repairs and chimney relining.

Construction materials

11.2.1.1 Fireplaces shall be constructed of solid masonry units or of reinforced refractory cement concrete.


11.2.1.2 Masonry fireplaces shall be supported on a foundation of one of the following:

     (1) Masonry

     (2) Reinforced portland cement concrete

     (3) Refractory cement concrete

     (4) Other non combustible constructions having a fire resistance rating not less than 3 hours, provided such supports are adequate for the load.


Thickness

11.2.1.2.1 Footings for masonry fireplaces and their chimneys shall be constructed of concrete or solid masonry at least 12" thick and shall extend at least 6" beyond the face of the fireplace or foundation wall on all sides.


Frost level

11.2.1.2.2 Footings shall be on undisturbed earth well below the frost line


11.2.1.2.3 In areas not subject to freezing the footings shall be at least 12" below finished grade.
